« RUSSIAN ROMANCE »

The concerts of Ludmila Voinarovska (soprano; merited artist of Ukraine) and Anna Seredenko (piano; merited artist of Ukraine), which were held in the frameworks of the Kiev Summer Music Soirees international festival at the Small Hall of the National Philharmonics of Ukraine on 12 July 2004, and at Kirovograd Philharmonics on 11 November; at The Republican Actors' House on 23 November were all dedicated to the works of the great Russian composers Tchaikovsky and Rakhmaninov.

" : the romances are a summit of the Russian vocal lyrics. Exquisite skill and availability, and what is the most important - the sincerity of lyrical revelation, have made them incredibly popular with a wide range of audiences.
Tchaikovsky romances reveal a plethora of human feelings. Grief and loneliness, anguish and strive for the light and joy in spite of gloomy reality - all these feelings and moods are shaped by Tchaikovsky in laconic, generalized musical themes close to those of his operas, ballets, chamber and instrumental music."
Rakhmaninov romances performed in the second part of the concert were written in the 1890s. "It was a significant epoch for Russia, for Russian art. The period is also important for a personal artistic biography of Rakhmaninov, who has experienced a grave psychological crisis. The tragic motives of the romances of this period are characteristic for the late 19-th century Russian art as a whole. Nevertheless, the works of Rakhmaninov give an impression of the force of a human being and the eternal beauty of nature, which is infinitely dear to the heart of each Russian :"
