A Moveable Feast »

Mystification is an integral attribute of the New Year and Christmas festivity. On 2 January the first philharmonic concert in 2006 will turn the Hall of Columns into a Parisian Monmartre mansard. The conception of the concert belongs to Anna Seredenko, merited artist of Ukraine, and the program is devoted to Paris exclusively. Refined Bohemian character of the violin and piano sonata by Claude Debussy; exquisite sound of his sonata for two pianos; fine, sensual slightly pungent romances by Francis Poulenc performed in French; unknown to the music lovers "The Elegy Poem" for violin and piano by Eugene Izay : Only at one time will the audience find themselves in the charming French Provence, thanks to the satirical cantata "Le Ball Masquerade" for violin, two pianos and chamber orchestra by F.Poulenc. The audience will find themselves surrounded by bright characters of the provincial bourgeois emerging out of "naphthalene-scented" wardrobe. The crown of the concert will be a kind of classical music hit over the last 150 years, "Le Carnavalle des Animaux" by Camille Saint Sanse.
This concert is the third in the "Music at Christmas" cycle, which is traditionally remembered not only by the splendid music played by well known musicians, but also by their colorful theatrical character. This time the merited artists of Ukraine Anna Seredenko, Ludmila Voinarovska, Vladimir Sirenko, The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, as well as laureates of international contests of a younger generation, such as Sofia Suldina, Eugeny Dashak, and the stage director Elena Negrescu, will create an atmosphere of the French charm with a fine romantic touch inherent to the French Romantic Impressionists of the late 19th- early 20th century.
