BORIS BRAZ
Boris BARAZ was born 14 July 1956 in Kiev. He started learning to play the cello when he was seven years old at the Lviv Special Music School. His teacher was Professor Spitzer.
In 1974 - 1979 he continued his musical education at the Moscow Conservatory (Professor Shakhovska's class). After graduation, he was qualified as an orchestra soloist and performer soloist in chamber music, as well as a cello teacher.
1977 - 1980 participates in the Moscow Conservatoire Soloist Ensemble directed by Sviatoslav Richter). The ensemble gives a number of concerts in France, Germany, Poland, Greece, Bulgaria, the republics of the former Soviet Union.
1979 - 1985 performs together with the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra and other ensembles as a soloist with particular attention to interpretations of contemporary composers.
Since 1986 he has been a participant of Yury Bashmet "Soloists of Moscow" Ensemble; together with M.Muntian, his partner in trio, has toured in the USSR, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Italy, Great Britain. Also he has participated in a number of international festivals; in particular, in France, where within the Great Festival in Bordeau, he performed in trio with Yury Bashmet and Pierre Amoyal.
Now resides in Paris, where he joins performance with teaching. B.Baraz teaches at the Nime Conservatoire and The International Musical Academy in Florence. He is also a cello professor at Kapestan master classes and at La Scuola di Perfezionamento di Portogruaro (Italy).
