PAVEL VERNIKOV


        Pavel VERNIKOV not only has a strong personality and unique talent. He is one of the most outstanding violinists of our time, a legend virtuoso.
        He was born in Odessa, and graduated with honor from Stoliarenko Special Music School for Gifted Children (Professor L.Mordkovich's class). He continued his studies in Moscow at the Tshaikovsky Conservatoire. As a virtuoso, Pavel VERNIKOV has brilliantly manifested the best achievements of the Russian School of violin. Among his teachers were Maestro D.Oistrach and D.Snitkovsky. During conservatoire, he was the winner of a number of music contests in the USSR, and played as a soloist with orchestras of Moscow, Odessa, Kiev and Novosimirsk.
        In 1979 he won the Grand Prix of Vittorio Gui festival (Florence, Italy), and the 1st prize of the Monaco International Festival.
        In 1981-1984 toured the United States, Japan and Europe as the first violin at "I Virtuosi di Roma" ensemble.
        Fro over 20 years he has led an active concert career as a member of Tschaikovsky Trio. Presently he is a member of Europe Trio together with A.Menier (cello) aamd C.Ivaldi.
        At different times in his artistic career Maestro Vernikov played together with S.Richter, K.Zimmermann, J. Gelloway, M.Tipeau, N.Gutman, O.Kagan, Yu.Bashmet et al in the best concert halls of Italy, Europe and the United States.
        He is a founder of La Scuola di Perfezionamento di Portogruaro" (Italy) and artistic director of the Portogruaru Chamber Music festival. He also gives mastery advancement courses at La Scuola di Musica di Fiesole (Italy), ISMEZ di Rome as well as La Scuola Superiore di Musica di Campobasso (Italy), and Kuhmo School of Violin (Finland).
        At present he is leading professor of the National Lyon High Conservatoire of Music (France).
        He has conducted seminars and master classes at the National Conservatoire in Paris, Hochschule in Studhardt, Rubin Academy in Tel-Aviv as well as Casals Festival in Prado (Spain). He is frequently invited to judge prestigious international contests, such as ARD (Munich) and Szigety Contest (Budapest).
        High professionalism and unique sounding enable Pavel Vernikov to made many recordings. He has been recorded at RCA, Ondine, Dynamic.
        Pavel Vernikov now plays the famous Baron Knopf violin by Pietro Guarneri (Venice, 1740). It is the most exquisite and beautiful instrument of the famed master, which enjoys brilliant reputation among the performers and music-lovers.
        The Baron Knopf violin is a true master piece. It is a large size instrument with perfectly preserved dark-red Venetian tarnish and unique sound volume and timbre.
